The danger of dental amalgam
For decades there has been much talk about whether amalgams slowly alter the body, now the Federal Drugs Administration (FDA) of the United States has published an article where the harmful effects of amalgams are evident, below is an extract translated from its official page:

"Dental amalgam is a filling used to fill cavities caused by tooth decay, it is a mixture of metals, consisting of liquid mercury with powdered alloy of silver, copper, tin. Approximately 50% by weight of dental amalgam is mercury.

To place the amalgam, the dentist drills the tooth to remove the cavity and then fills the cavity with the amalgam.

Potential risks of amalgams:
They contain mercury.
Amalgam releases mercury vapor that can be inhaled and absorbed by the lungs. Prolonged exposure to mercury vapor has been associated with adverse effects on the brain and kidney.
Developing neurological systems in fetuses and young children may be more sensitive to the neurotoxic effects of mercury vapor.
In the general population, there is no evidence to show that dental amalgam fillings produce adverse effects. Mercury-related exposure may have greater potential adverse risks in the following group of people:
Pregnant women and their fetuses.
Women planning a pregnancy.
Nursing women and their infants.
Children under 6 years of age.
People with neurological diseases.
People with kidney disease.
People with high sensitivity (allergies) to mercury or other components of dental amalgam (tin, silver, copper), which may lead to oral lesions or other allergic reactions."
